Diversity and Inclusion Statement

The Center for Brain, Biology, and Behavior (CB3) is firmly committed to embracing and advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion in all of its forms. We recognize and value the considerable benefits of a diverse campus community and are committed to creating an environment that is inclusive of, and respectful to, all members of that community, from students, to faculty, to staff, and beyond. We also recognize the intrinsic value of diversity, equity, and inclusion in strengthening CB3’s research and teaching mission, as any scientific understanding of the brain and behavior that does not consider the full range of human diversity is incomplete. We pledge to hold ourselves accountable for our actions and inactions; to use inclusive, community-centered practices to develop and maintain our policies and facilitate their implementation; to encourage civil and engaged discourse to ensure that we continually improve these practices; to take tangible action both to remove any barriers faced by members of our community; and to seek out ways to support, elevate, and advocate for voices that may otherwise go unheard in the fields we represent. We expect all CB3 members and visitors to respect a diverse range of viewpoints and uphold our commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion to ensure a safe and welcoming environment for scientific discovery and student learning.
